Bubble Tea

In 1980 Bubble tea was originated as a beverage in Taiwan. A common misconception was originated by humans that tapioca balls will be their in the drink. This missconception was wrong because the term "bubble" indicates to the layer of bubbles which is form on top of the drink when the drink is shaken hardly. The pearls are ususally present in the beverage which are very chewy and can be taken through a wide straw.

Asian regions such as China, Hong Kong and Macau, Taiwan, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand widely use bubble tea drink. Bubble tea us taken in both iced form and in hot form using sweetened milk or often any other flavor. The most intresting characterstic of this tea is a gemmy balls made up of tapiioca or yam starch well-known as “pearls” pr “boba”. These gemmy balls are settled in the bottom of the cup. These balls are larger then the pearls used in tapioca pudding with a diameter of 6 millimeter. But occasionally smaller size pearls are used. Their color is often translucent brown with dark brown center. Other pearls of different color are used and often “jelly cubes” are also used. Tapioca pearls need an hour to cook and expand considerably. They are very sofy when cooked and drained plus added in sweet water before serving. As time moved new variations come to existence, giving many bubble tea recipes amon which is Snow-bubble tea. It is one of this variation which is a slushie-like drink with many flavors and colored balls. One drawback of this drink is that it use ice which makes the balls hard.

The original bubble tea recipe includes hot Taiwanese balck tea, tapioca pearls, condensed milk and honey. As popularity increases, variations were created in bubble tea. Now different bubble tea recipes are used to give exceptional flavor to the tea. Initially iced bubble tea with the hint of fruit flavor s began to appear, atlast with differnet variations the real fruits took the place of tea in bubble tea. In different pubs colored pearls are used with the fruit matching with pearl color having oversize straws to suck the pearls.

Bubble tea is usually flavored into two groups : fruit-flavored tea, milk-flavored tea. Milk tea uses mostly dairy or non-dairy creamers. Recipe for bubble tea even uses the powder, syrups, pulp or fruit jucies added to hot balck or green tea which is then blended into cocktail shaker or in blender with ice until chilled. The mixture is then combined with milk and cooked tapioca pearls.
