Marmalades

A sweet preserve either bitter or sweet in tang made from fruit, sugar, water, and a gelling agent well-known as Marmalade. According to Oxford English Dictionary "marmalade" always refers to a preserve gattered from a citrus fruit, most commonly oranges or lime. Marmlade recipe involves sliced or chopped fruit peel this peel is simmered in fruit juice and water until it become soft. Marmalade is sometimes described as jam with fruit peel.. Jam & marmalade is oftenly consumed on toasted bread and it is the part of a full English breakfast. The favoured citrus fruit for marmalade production in the UK is the "Seville orange", Citrus aurantium var. aurantium, are the favourite citrus fruit marmlade consumed in United States. It is called Aurantiu as it was first imported from Seville in Spain. It holds pectin higher than sweet oranges, and becomes a good set. Other Marmalade recipes includes lemons, limes, grapefruits, strawberries or a combination of citrus fruits called as mix fruit Marmlade

History shows that first time, "marmalade" appeared in English in 1480, from French marmelade which itself comes from Portuguese marmelada. Marmelo or quince is the root word from which a preserve was intended. Marmelada is a compound word from marmelo and quince that derives from Latin word melimelum which means “honey apple”. According to english authers the oldest known document contain this word is Gil Vicente’s play Comédia de Rubena, written in 1521
